Just came across The Kinks, Johnny Thunder and you can hear a bit that The Jam copped for this song. Still one of my favorites.

Why did you end the song before it was done? This is not a 3:18 song its 5:41 and you cut out the best part!

Check out the live version from "Dig The New Breed"! This version is rather tepid and tentative , in comparison. That one is POWERFUL.

good to hear a US jam fan they did tour the US i think supported blue oyster cult at some gigs but as weller said `the never made it big in america, but neither did the small faces or egg`n`chips` joe strummer once said that weller had english picture postcards stuck on the US tour bus!

Over her ein the US I was one of a very few people who had even heard of the Jam let alone liked their music. To this day, they're my favorite band. They were awesome, not sure if they ever toured over here but as I was in college at the time, I probably couldn't have affored it. My peers were too busy following the Grateful Dead around the US to care about the Jam. TOO BAD!!

Thanks for posting, this took me back in more ways than one. Your last photo was taken in HMV Wolverhampton in 1979 when they were promoting Eton Rifles. I know cos I'm on the photo! Got in trouble for being late back to work afterwards but at 18 who cares, The Jam had signed my parka! Life is timeless, days are long when you're young :-) The photo appeared in the local Express & Star newspaper a day or two later, but not seen it since, till now. Wonder where you got it from? Cheers anyway!
