I always thought about this as a song about being kind to one another and the earth. About how were destroying our planet through war, global warming ect letting each-other starve, killing each-other.... and how we need to band together to save ourselves, because in the end we are all in this together-- we're connected like the mighty water. I don't need to believe in God to hear a plead for more compassion and caring.
