Hey, people, this song isn't exactly about a cheap hotel room, this hotel is named "JAIL"

The neon sign flashes,Leaves its mark against the wallThe TV is silentAnd will stay that way until dawnThe sheets are so cold,The telephone is dumbAnd I'm so very far from my homeIn the dark I hear a sirenIt screams across the nightSomeone else is in troubleI am not the only oneThe cigarette glows,I'm all aloneAnd I'm so very far from my homeI would leave here tomorrowBut I know I've got to stayIf only you were here with meI'm holding on to every memory,

In high school my friend read the lyrics to "The Black Plaque" from "Winds of Change" in an English class. I love the chanting and overall arrangement.

It sounds like a worse run hotel than Fawlty Towers. Seriously, it's an incredible song that's really grown on me. The horn adds so much to the mood.

The title reminds me of a cheap hotel that I spent a night in while I rode across America in the 1980s. The bedbugs and faulty toilet were optional. All kidding aside, this tune moves soooo right. The horn is superb. The vocals by Eric are fantastic.

I wore 2 of these albums out back when it came out. You can still get Winds of Change on CD. This was followed by , "The Twain Shall Meet", followed by "EveryOne of Us" and finally "Love Is." Love Is features Andy Summers who went on to the Police. He plays about an 8 minute solo on Colored Rain. The albums were somewhat erratic but there are some real gems in there. Eric Burdon and Joe Cocker ar the two best vocalist of the period.

Jefferson Airplane (Today) is a well done song that I have only heard on British Internet radio. Always a big Animals fan and again I only ever heard Hotel Hell on Internet radio.

Why did they have to record a siren at 1.03 when he says "in the dark I hear a siren"? It kind of spoils it for me.
