Недолгое время она находилась в Европе, посещала Бостонский Колледж. Училась игре на классическом фортепиано и виолончели. Живя в Миннеаполисе (штат Миннесота) после окончания учебы, Пфафф самостоятельно научилась играть на бас-гитаре. Она, гитарист/вокалист The Bastards и барабанщик сформировали группу Janitor Joe.Первый сингл коллектива, «Hmong», вышел на рекорд лейбле, созданном группой Oхо в 1992. Популярный местный лейбл Amphetamine Reptile Records заметил группу и позже, в том же году, был выпущен сингл «Bullethead» с красочной обложкой.Затем в 1993 вышел сингл «Boyfriend 7-inch» и дебютным альбомом «Big Metal Birds».Кристен Пфафф внесла большой вклад в песни первого альбома. Она умерла от передозировки наркотиков 16 июня 1994 года. Является членом «Клуба 27».
