Classic Helstar from the 1989 "Nosferatu" album. I put this up with a clip from the album's namesake, it's a great song that's nowhere to be found on Youtube. The guitar parts are insane but don't get in the way of the song, unlike many shredders...enjoy!

This is without a doubt on my top three albums ever made. I've listened to this hundreds of times over the years and never tired of it. The guitar work still amazes me (and I've been playing for ~26+ years). I would gladly drop a solid chunk of change on a complete transcription of this album, easily!9 years ago

Yeah, this album is really incredible. Andre used to live next door to us when I was in junior high, the year before he joined Helstar. Dude used to come over and just rip ridiculously good riffs and melodies, and then just laugh them off and call them "pop garbage" or something of the sort. I remember one day I was watching him just play around, and I asked him if he could play anything, and he said "sure, what do you want me to play?". I asked him to play Eruption (Van Halen), and he ran through it perfectly, just as easily as if he were tuning the guitar.The dude played pretty much all day long, every day. That is how you get to be that good.10 years ago

It is a small dream of mine to transcribe all the songs from this album and some or most from A Distant Thunder in a small effort to help spread awareness of this band, because then, hopefully, someone would find one of these tabs, learn it, play it, and then the performer's audience would ask about the band that created the tune and so on. I made a tab for Swirling Madness on UG last year. Not sure if I should bother with the rest.10 years ago

Larry Barragan and Andre Corbin were a fantastic guitar duo! Never got any of the attention that they so rightly deserved from the fans or (especially) the Metal press! They were as good as anybody on those first 4 albums,they're ALL Metal CLASSICS! "Nosferatu" is my favorite even though ALL 4 kick major ass!11 years ago

I couldn't agree more man. I wish Andre Corbin would've stayed in the band longer so they could've made some more amazing stuff, and come to think of it, I wonder what they would've sounded like together in the early 90s when the remaining thrash/speed metal bands all started becoming way more progressive. Helstar was ahead of their time, in that sense. Also, does anyone else think that these guys deserve more props than Coroner for their better neo-classical riffs? *puts up flameshield*12 years ago

@HelstarMetal good, now you only need to explain to us what were you drinking when writing those insane riffs, I mean are you guys some aliens who came to Earth to show us that we only THINK we can play guitar? Harkers tale? I spent full week trying to play the intro to no avail. You guys are just criminally overlooked.
