This album is a masterpiece, so by first taking away the album in it's entirety, and then piece-mealing it into each song so a bunch of fuckers can cram godamned ads in between each song not only screws up the continuity for the listener, but is an insult to the artists who created it!

They're a speed metal band (apologies for a reply to an old comment).

It depends on the album. They can be on the thrashier end of speed metal as in the king of hell album, or like this album be more straight up technical speed metal. some of the earlier stuff was more power metal. The newer stuff is more speed metal. I think in general I'd classify them more in speed metal than anything just for the inhuman guitar riffage.

probably my favourite song by helstar. Just because of the epic guitars. This is like Technical Speed metal. The verse riff is just insane.

Hehe, today is my lucky day. I get to listen to an awesome Helstar song and look at a picture of one of the great guitar masters; Al Di Meola, at the same time. YES!

I have, in my time, had many brides, Mr. Harker... but I shall set Lucy above them all.

Yeah I love sci-fi + really technical metal it rules man, but I have to warn you about Spheres. It is very... uh well different, you have to go in with an open mind about but if you can get past it I think its a really rewarding listen, also I think its interesting how there is a theme with that little flying compass thing on the covers of Testimonies then Spheres and then on the Mind Reflections compilation and I ignore the fact that they just ruined the theme with the 2 subsequent albums.

I haven't listened to that Spheres album. The only Pestilence albums I've listened to is their first one, Consuming Impulse, and Testimony of the Ancient. I'll have to check it out though. To me some of the most unique and creative metal bands have always dealt w/ sci-fi lyrics or themes. Science and technical musicianship just go hand in hand together so well. It's just great! :)

Yes, I think Nocturnus is really awesome their guitar solos are awesome!! Yeah, I discovered Hellwitch only about 5-6 months ago but when I first heard 'em, I thought it was just ok, but the more I listened the more I got into 'em, they are really awesome. I love metal with sci-fi lyrics like Voivod, Nocturnus, Obliveon, Hellwitch, Vektor, etc. Have you heard Pestilence's Spheres album, it's a prog/death metal album, I really like it its real unique but its definitely out there, haha.

Damn, you know 'bout Hellwitch? That's awesome, they're so obscure. I remember looking at their name at first and thinking whatever, but still decided to click on the video. It was 'Sentient Transmography' and w/i the first few seconds i was amazed. Can I assume that you've heard of Nocturnus as well? They were more death/thrashy, but still an incredibly tech/progish band.

yeah no problem, enjoy, I know I love it when I stumble upon a new band that is really good, so when I hear of 'em I try to pass it on. Happy listening.

If you like the more technical side of Thrash then check out Forbidden, Believer, Deathrow, Obliveon, Dyoxen, Blind Illusion, Paradox, Hellwitch, the first album from Nevermore, and the first album from Meshuggah for some similar metal on par with the bands you mentioned.
