It's about addiction, he's trying to let someone who loves him be free, as addicts we have this fucked up ability to destroy the people who love us, they end up living in the prison of our addiction. We always break our promises we always let them down, our drug comes before them over and over again, it's devastating. .......

This song kind of reminds me of my own bio mother. Not because I can relate on an emotional level, but rather I've seen it and understand how people can feel it. My brother ended up committing suicide and he says it was because of our mom's abuses, but I really feel like he was caught between her abuses and my bio dad's. I don't 'know' what he went through, but I can certainly 'feel' it.When my mother got the news of my brother's death, she was drunk and went into a drunken rage, blaming herself. My bio father? Not so much as a tear. He would also beat my mother within an inch of her life. This is the guy that won custody of me and pawned me off to his sister after blackmailing my mom into accepting the adoption. Listen to me rant, though. I almost forgot entirely that this comment is about my mother. Yet I only told you what was necessary did I not? Indeed, honesty is always the best policy. Unfortunately the corrupt, idiotic, liberal courts decided that vigilantism makes them horny.Oh. look, there I go again. The point I'm trying to make about my mother is that, while I can understand what she went through and why she gave up, at the end of the day, she still gave up. Her love towards me was undoubtedly genuine, but she was like the opposite of my adoptive parents. Emotionally supportive, but never really there and it shows that it wouldn't have been any different had she had the opportunity to see me, despite the fact that I would've preferred it over what I had to go through and I have to ask myself "why"?So remember, even if you are this horrible, awful, disgusting excuse for a human being, be honest with yourself and others, because it will make you infinitely better than your critics. I find most of the Anonymous worshiping horseshit you find online at every turn is not an accurate representation of society at large. You'll find non-violent, good people that accept and tolerate imperfection in humanity everywhere you go, just like yourself. I know your thinking this because being happy is just a part of healthy human nature.I say flaunt your happiness. People may get themselves killed for that, but wouldn't the point be kind of moot if you're afraid to be happy or are forced to live in a world that has the same fears. Don't be like my mother and give up. More importantly, don't be like my father and make the problem worse and indulge in sin. Humans are forgiven for their error and imperfections. The components of love, such as forgiveness, are much more important than love itself. A common criticism of Christianity is that you can go out and get drunk and beg for forgiveness the next day. Now, a lot of Christians are like that, particularly practicing, churchgoing ones, but you and I both know that isn't what it is truly about. Sorry for getting a bit religious at the end there, but it just came out that way.

My ex dedicated this to me, and in my fit of rage, I pretty much avoided it. I skimmed the lyrics a little, but I got the wrong message... he was actually apologizing. Today I accidently clicked it, but tomorrow it will be on purpose. Thank you Justin.

This is one of the most touching and heartfelt songs I've ever heard. Half of it my ex should sing to me, the other half would be me singing it to him.

I read somewhere that he is talking about his mother.....frankly I can see it. .......not sure if its true. just read he said in a interview before that it was about his mother. but a good song should be inturprted in ways that are best for the listener. so a sad love song? sure. no matter what its about. it grabs you at your core.
