harry eats the beatles. harry eats all of the same troubles as our troubles. our troubles troubles. harry plays with words. he levels with us these multiple levels of joy and reception. he knew the shapes of songs the way all true song writers do, and he chose not to become discordant just to teach those shapes of songs a thing or two. he sung the melody so well it becomes more striking than discordance. intense perfect insanely baroque harmonies, overwhelming, silly. i love how he turned over such tender ground as song material that would have been nothing but cliche in other music artist's repertoires. my old desk. so long dad. the moonbeam song. his songs are endlessly tentative no matter how much they plod and plonk and 'know' about holding a tune. his knowing is lost in the pleasure of our listening and fastening ourselves alongside. who hasn't put a harry tune alongside a day in their life.
