This song was from their 4th album which was released in April of 1966. The Beatles hadn't recorded anything with a guitar sound like that up until that point. A year later, they would incorporate that sort of distortion on "Sgt. Pepper" "Good Morning Good Morning" and "Sgt. Pepper (reprise)." This is one of two things I can think of that the Hollies actually did before the Beatles, the other being "Mr Moonlight."
