So nice! ... the great songwriter himself performing his own terrific song stripped down, raw, straight acoustic ... so much better than the over-produced album versions and the various covers by others who made it a "hit". At the end he closes out saying (the performance was), "... a little loose." I say, just exactly tight enough ...

There was a DJ in LA who played this as background during OJ's slow white blazer drive down that LA freeway....three hours of history.

This is one of my all time favorite songs. I play it... sometimes Guy's version, sometimes JJW's. Ole Skinny Dennis. Oh Susannah.

I only got to know about this singer because I like knives, but this song is amazing.

"A little loose"Yeah, Right... I'm never gonna be this good. I think this sounds better than the studio version. And this is without any clicktrack or tuning note.

Youngster regarding this music, but damn Guy Clark! Such power for such a simple song. He and Terry Allen are all I need on that "desert island."

Yes, it freaked me out that I saw Steve Earle's picture on this link to Guy Clark's LA Freeway.

Also a nice version is by Radney Foster on the double-CD 'THIS ONE'S FOR HIM: A TRIBUTE TO GUY CLARK', with Shawn Camp and Verlon Thompson playing acoustic guitar

Love Guy Clark, but Jerry Jeff Walker has the best version of this song. Thanks for uploading, still a great performance.

I am not sure what you are confused about. No matter how it is performed or who performs it, Guy still wrote it. If you meant to ask who is singing, it is Guy doing a solo version. It is from the movie, as the description says, and was filmed at a show with just Guy on guitar.

This might be him performing solo onstage. Sounds similar to the movies version of Desperados Waiting For A Train.

The film starts with "Freeway", they do "Old Time Feeling" later in the movie. I think they used Freeway to open because the film maker got into the project through Denis Sanchez, who was a bass player for Guy, among other people. He died young, right around the time the film was made, and it is dedicated to him. Guy mentions him in the song - Skinny Denis.
