Careful there, danceman. You don't want to be thought of as one of those looney conspiracy theorists. BTW, I visited your channel. The door was unlocked, so I helped myself to a copy of "Oh, Mr. Porter". ;-)

@nameofthepen - Yes, it is the long accepted story, but I have my doubts. Too convenient an explanation for hiss death and I sense a cover up.

Fascinating info on Russ' death. I understand his style of singing is referred to as "crooning," an expression he did not like very well. Lovely tune. Of course later male singers imitated Russ' style. That is the highest form of praise I would imagine.

I do love Russ Columbos singing. I´m quite sure that Bing Crosby would never had become that famous in the thirties, if Russ Columbo would have lived on and would have survived his terrible car accident in 1934.

He sounds like a great singer. Bing Crosby must surely have been influenced by Russ Columbo.

I've tried to make my own arrangement, but alas, have failed. Does anyone know the song Guilty by Russ Columbo? Perhaps you know of an arrangement for solo guitar you can point me to? Or perhaps you care enough to arrange it yourself and share with me?:)Guilty - Russ Columbo - 1931

@75capriceconvertible Hi Bill Yes it is the Green N-78 Stylus. I just found another N-78 stylus tonight that I forgot I had. Always good to have a spare. This is the Dual 1219, some of the other videos posted are using the Dual 1229, which has the stroboscope.

Russ Columbo

The Russ Columbo Society is currently being organized into a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity. Among our goals is, first and foremost, to get Russ Columbo his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Beyond that, we shall prevail upon the Songwriters Hall of Fame to induct him into the ranks of their membership.

@LeanUmbers Hi Thanks for the information, and I agree Russ Columbo is an outstanding singer, and the best I have ever heard. I have never heard another male singer that can carry the melody with such perfection, warmth and depth. He was truly one of a kind. If I locate any more of his records I will be sure and upload them with the best sound quality I can for others to enjoy.
