"Spent a little time on the mountain. Spent a little time on the hill. Some folks say you've got to run away. Others say you've got to stand still". Classic verse.

Please don't dominate the rap Jack, if you got nothing new to say.

My parents bought me this album (cassette) when I was 11 and I have loved it ever since. Looking back my parents were pretty cool.

I'm a very late bloomer to the grateful dead at a mere 33 years old but I sure appreciate the depth and content of the guitar and lyrical genius these guys all coordinate together, I love how though this particular song was written about a particular event that got out of hand yet, I can relate it to in a completely different aspect on my life and get the depth of the philosophy they bring to there music. After all isn't that what music is about? not necessarily what the original song was written about but rather how it speaks to you? Totally takes you on a philosophical analysis as to the meaning and expression in the music. I love this particular song! What a band and what a legacy they have left. I really love how no word in this song is wasted to fill in for a beat.spent a little time on the mountains and spent a little time on the hills. we have all had our days of victory and declared it from the mountain tops and we have also had out days of humbling in the the foot hills. yet we carry on the the darkness will give, one way or another. What we choose to carry whether of value as of gold or value as of lead it still has a weight to bear and it also weighs the same as far as discipline and determination but you determine the outcome and if the horse don't pull the load you got to carry your own weight.

Just for kicks, I'd like someone to upload this same song but at 120 rpm. Great song.

An old friend told me a story that Jerry would visit this Kosher Hot Dog place in Chicago...when the guy would ask him how he would like it, Jerry would say " One way or another " and smile :D #gratefuldead Maybe a #truestory
