A very rare early demo that was only released on the obscure Italian album E LE SUE CANZONI in 1974 . That album featured 5 early Gilbert recordings and 5 instrumental versions of some of his songs by an Italian orchestra . This was probably recorded around 1967/ 68 and sounds like it isn`t even a finished track - like he was just experimenting with it . I doubt if this was ever meant to be released and would imagine he was not happy when it came out ! This track is currently unavailable on any of Gilbert`s official releases .

Phrasing in 3/8 against a 4/4 rhythm....it's a nice idea, but it sounds like either Gilbert or the rhythm section hadn't quite got their fingers around it yet.

The man is a genius. This was an early example of what was to become. The most under rated man in music. I mean that sincerely. I have been following him from 1971

This sounds to me like he was experimenting with complex jazz forms with discordant and offbeat phrases. Perhaps the reason he didn't go on with this is that it was musically beyond the target audience. It's not an easy form of music & for him doing it so early in his career show what a truly complex mind he has. Pity he didn't do more of it, I like it. Any more gems like this Mo? Thanks again. Saludos.
