uwerks Covering George Jones is a suicidal move for even the best singers, like Van Morrison. Covering George does serve the purpose of exposing his songs, sometimes, different audiences, however.

This mans voice had the precision of a skilled surgeon- he performs intricate surgery on each word with every breath.I think much of his masterful singing and unique and magical phrasing came from his love of the music. Even in his no show days when he would break ranks and leave a huge tour and lose tens of thousands of dollars for one performance, they would find him singing for the folks in some backwoods honky-tonk for FREE. It wasn't the fame or the money that he cared about- in fact he never understood any of it, he never felt that he was deserving of any of it. That is so sad. He just had no clue how good he really was. Why God saw fit to give all that talent to just one man we will never know, but I am sure glad that he did! I miss the HELL out of you George Jones!

I'm glad you mentioned the instruments. They are awesome and added so much to the George Jones sound yet I seldom hear anyone even mention how great they are. The steel guitar playing knocks my socks off.

If you have ever watched George's mouth as he sings I always think him and John Travolta talk/sing a lot alike. I find it interesting.

Blind Leon Payne's composition, with the voice of Country Music singing it. No one ever sang this song,do you know why? Just listen, then you will know, and Nashville knows, and won't admit.
