i think this album, and the Missing Piece also, are unfairly maligned just due to being compared to their earlier progressive works- but that's just like any other case of comparing something decent to something that is of ungodly levels of amazingness. Also, very interesting that this song came out 7 years BEFORE the very similar "Dead Man's Party" by Oingo Boingo.

This is NOT a different sound, this sounds like ANY standard unknown new wave band. There is nothing special about this tuner. Even worse, It sounds like a poor man's OINGO BOINGO. That's why they never had any commercial success with this pathetic twist. NOW, What they did on "Interview" "Free Hand" "Octopus" "The Power and the Glory". THAT WAS DIFFERENT.

Some people complains the fact that we, fans of the REAL Gentle Giant despise this sorry ass music because it wasn't complex or complicated. They call us elitists and other stupid things. Well That experimentation, complexity and outlandish imagination was THE ESSENCE and the very reason of the existence OF GENTLE GIANT. We loved Gentle Giant PRECISELY FOR THAT. If we wanted to hear something different, we'd simply hear another band. This crappy music IS NOT what Gentle Giant was about.
