This music is SO complicated.. it's just unbelievable.. As funky as it is, no American funk or soul band could EVER play this: just too far out of their reach musically... Gentle Giant was an incredible phenomenon.

The singer sucks, but the band is pretty good. Is this considered Prog rock or not. I came to this video after someone compared them to ELP and that was unfair because ELP were straight garbage, I couldnt listen to this band very long but at least the keyboards make sense not like Emersons shit ass

SAw GG several times in the 70's, the last was the Civilian tour. They played Toad's Place in New Haven, CT, and I remember being so excited, as I had been a loyal fan since 74, and of course, knew much of their material. I was watching them take the stage, and remember Gary Green chain-smoking like a dragon, taking a series of rapid, deep, smoke-filled breathes, which was all a bit strange, HOWEVER!Gentle Giant had to be one of, if not THE tightest bands to ever grace the stage, and I've seen the best (of the best..) and without a doubt GG IS AT THE TOP OF THAT LIST!

Saw these guys in the mid 1970's. The only band I ever saw where they rotated instruments after each song. The guitarist would play bass, then keyboards, then drums. Crazy talent. Such an under-rated band in an era where Kiss was top of the charts.
