Played this song about 100x on a roadtrip. My ex-wife divorced me over it. This song is far better than any marriage could ever be. Phil Collins himself is better than any relationship.

One interesting thing aobut the lyrics (which I'd bet are my Phil "Mr. Alamo" Collins) is that the could serve as a "prequel" to his solo song "The Roof is Leaking". I put both in my "Genesis 69-99" playlist. Thanks again for uploading!

So, has anyone else caught the nod to "Eight Miles High" by The Byrds in the guitar solo that starts at 5:07?

I don't understand Phil Collins' utter dislike for this song. I think it's one of the best Phil written songs by Genesis! You're right in saying that it's not a typical Genesis or Phil song but does indeed have its own magic.

and Rutherford's guitar has a little Byrds feel

Similar to "The Roof is Leaking" off of Phil's "Face Value" (except without Clapton)

I read a Genesis message board post from Phil concerning this song. He said that he was trying to see if they could do a track like "The Band" This was the result.

never thought of it, but it makes a ton of sense when you listen to it that way!

This song almost doesn't sound like a Genesis or Phil song, but it has its own magic

FreakEating

it has country-sounding elements to it. in so many ways I almost can't count this as a genesis tune

this song had a tearful vibe to it. So different from most other Phil-era songs
