Calling all stations

Can anybody tell me, tell me exactly where I am

I've lost all sense of direction

Watching the darkness closing around me

Feeling the cold all through my body

That's why I'm calling all stations

In the hope that someone hears me

A single lonely voice

I feel the sensation disappearing

There's a tingling in my arms

And there's a numbness in my hands

All the broken promises

All my good intentions don't add up to very much

And I realise whatever happened, whatever happened

I remember all the moments that I've wasted in my life

All the things I was always gonna do

Why is it now when it's too late

That I've finally realised it's important to me

To think that everything that's dear to me

And is always in my heart

Could so easily be taken

And it's tearing me apart

Going over and over in my mind

I relive it one second at a time

Calling all stations

Can anybody tell me, tell me exactly where I am

How different things look when you're all on your own

Watching the darkness closing all around me

All around me

And I long for the feeling

Of your arms to remind me

Of everything that's dear to me

And is always in my heart

Could so easily be taken

And it's tearing me apart

Going over and over in my mind

I relieve it one second at a time

Don't you know that's never been a moment

When I haven't had the thought

Of everything that's dear to me

And is always in my heart

Could so easily be taken

And it's tearing me apart

Going over and over in my mind

I relieve it one second at a time

As I sit here in the darkness

Feeling so alone

And everything that's dear to me

And is always in my heart...

Great track, not a good album. I wish Hackett used Ray.

Imagine a cool nickname

I love this track, too bad the rest of the album was utterly dull and forgettable.

You're right. It sounds like a very good Rutherford or Banks solo album - but hell, that's pretty good!

Isn't Chester Thompson playing drums on this track? What a great beat.

@jobrynjo O cmon. Phil isn't a clown, he's a performer. Personally I don't really like this album, I find everything Genesis did before this better than this, though I'm not too much into the last two Collins-Genesis albums either. Everything between 1970 and 1983 is totally awesome and there's no denying that.

one hipnotic drum beat and Tonys synth leading tones are pure freaking heaven. my favorite of all time TB sound. Thanks Lon

I thought this was excellent. Ray Wilson was very reminiscent of Peter Gabriel ... same husky feel to his voice and laid back style but still with power. Shame it signified the death of Genesis. I would have loved to have heard more from them with Ray singing. Better than the later stuff they were doing with Phil Collins.

Bought this album, the day it was released in the US (September 1, 1997).

Great Song! Rutherford's guitar at the end gives me the chills. That's some serious atmosphere going on!
