Just watched this film on TCM....song isn't used in the movie, but it should have been. John Wayne at his best! Lee Marvin, and Jimmy Stewert, too.

I have seen this movie many times and had forgotten woody strode an excellent actor and great athlete in his younger days was John Waynes hired hand and best friend in the movie and also a cast of great veteran actors of Westen movies it was and still is a classic and how cheap the studio was not to include the song in the movie but I think filming it in black and white gave it that classic look

Seems like a good allegory for ourpossible impending fight with ISIS here in the states. Will we stay home or go out to fight?

the song is better than the movie. the movie was basically filmed inside of a studio.

I always thought Jimmy Stewart shot Liberty Valance but it was really John Wayne.

when I was in the third grade I thought this was the greatest song ever recorded, tied only with "thunder road" by Robert mitchum. it was the most perfect summer of my life.
