I listened to him since I was like 8 years old, at the time I was at home sick and i listened to his greatest hits record over and over and try to imitate his voice. ( yea, I finally did get it) but no-one else around me in the seventies appreciated him, so I moved on to other voices...lol. hmmm...I liked gene McDaniels and imitated him too...weird kid I was. ...it was the Gene pool I guess...LOL

I have always liked Gene Pitney, saw him in concert at Bournemouth in the 60s. In his shows he talked about his health and staying young. It seems so sad that he went so early. The uploads from the Wheel tappers and shunters club are great thank you for the upload.

In August 1993 I knocked on Gene's front door in Somers, Connecticuit. He said, "Michael you are a long way from England, come on in!" Gene could talk confidentally about any subject and was very approachable as mainifested at his fan club conventions. He answered my e-mails. I shall always miss him and his wonderful unique voice.

Tremendous song, my favorite Pitney score. The music back then was "Half Heaven", the music of today is "Half Heartache". I miss those days so much. I almost feel sorry for today's generation, they have nothing but trash to listen to.

Gene Pitney was huge in the sixties.I remember Half Heaven Half Heartache ( my favorite)in 68 after I quit on a/left a beautiful gal.She was too popular for me to be her only I felt. She was a Homecoming Queen from another school. This song came on on my drive home and it tortured me for a few weeks.Thankfully I got over it eventually.Great memories.

Gene had 12 Gold Records and 4 platinum. Half Heaven Half Heartache was neither but in December of 1962 it did make Billboards top 25. For me it is one of my favorites. Ron--Highway Stars Magazine
