The former lead singer for the rock band Smith, who's biggest hit in 1969 was a cover of Burt Bacharach's "Baby It's You", which hit #5. Smith had 2 more entries on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1970; "Take A Look Around" (#43) and "What Am I Gonna Do" (#73). And even bubbled under at #101 with "Comin' Back To Me (Ooh Baby). Smith broke up in 1971 and McCormick went on to a solo career. Her first Hot 100 entry, "It's A Cryin' Shame", missed the Top 40 in 1971, peaking at #44. Her next entry in 1972, a cover of The Miracles' "You Really Got A Hold On Me", fared no better, getting as high as #98. McCormick's version has a soul/blues infusion that deserved a better chart fate.

In 1973, McCormick married and relocated to Hawaii, and currently resides in suburban Saint Louis.

Good recording, but if you think about it when you look at it, by the time this recording was released, a paradigm shift had taken place and interest in this style of music had pretty much vanished.
