Why didn't Frankie record this great song in his prime? He recorded this in 1998 for his CD "Wheels Of A Dream".

It's MARIAH, morons. It was composed in 1951 by Lerner and Lowe for their stage musical, "Paint Your Wagon.

Yes, Frankie invested in a Rambler Dealership in Downey Ca in the Mid 60's, He lost money on the deal, I went out there, as I was stationed in the army in Yuma at the time and bought a 1964 Rambler American from him

Rotten Luck Willie did do the orginal song, but it wasn't Presnell from the movie in the late 60's. No it was almost 20 years earlier with the Broadway play in 1951 of the same name. Willie was played by a guy named Steve Bullisrck but the first recording was by the singing group "The Mariners" and it charted at #30 that year. This was the recording of this great song to chart on the Billboard charts.

I know all about Harve Presnell, I just didn't remember his name in the movie which I have. Yes he was the best by far with this song. But he wasn't in his eighties when he recorded like Frankie was. In fact there are a lot of good versions of this song.

It is Harve Presnell, He played Rotten Luck Willie in Paint Your Wagon with Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood. He also played John Brown in The Unsinkable Molly Brown. You just might like it. Music is definitely all about what jives for you though. \m/
