"like a whip through the air" I think she's also singing about the love affair that emerged among all the members of the band. The emotional ties among all of them are very complex and at points really painful because of infidelities and mistakes, some of them fueled by excessive drug use. As tough as it was to write, I think this is one of her top songs and it was a minor hit that got some airplay in 1980. Thank you for posting.

Stevie really put her heart onto this one, documenting her breakup with Lindsay, not wanting to let go like the "Fireflies", the fans who at the end of the concert hold their lighters high and try to hang on to the moment and not let it end. I especially like the literary allusions Stevie throws in like the "Long Distance Winners, will we survive the flight?" a reference to the Buckingham-Nicks collaboration and song of the same name on their first album and the phrase "silhouette of a dream", the dark side of the dream, the dreams of loneliness from the Fleetwood Mac song "Dreams".
