Seems like Lindsey struggles with song (and Christie just ruing it), yet I found this version to be more energetic. Welch is, in some way, similar to the Christie - great musician with lack of stage energy. Their songs are captivating, not their personalities.

Make.It.STOP.. Like someone said earlier, I can't even sit through this to the end .. this was a horrid rendition. Buckingham ruined it and I can barely hear Christine's vocals. If you want to hear the best version, stick with Bob Welch.

Stevie was the one who ran with this sound in some of her Mac songs

Love this song...obsessed since one day in '99...naturally, I don't feel like his voice is as strong live as in the album version...but man, the guitar work live is frickin outstanding.

Hmmm. This song would seem more suited to Stevie Nicks' mystical style rather than Lindsey Buckingham.

You were top notched, bro!!! Thank you for giving us this tune, which I have listened to, since my college days, and throughout life! You rocked on Bare Trees, and every time I listen to any of your music, I flashback to a time, a place, a scene!! Man, don't believe that you aren't in a higher plane, and if I get there, it is my hope that you are there singing and playing the guitar! BTW, man, the Hall of Fame should recant its decision.. tho I am sure you are far removed from that game now!

RIP, Bob, but Eternal have mercy. Reading the Fleetwood Mac's bio at the RRHOF website without any mention of Bob was like reading a Soviet censor job. Bob Welch was still very much identified with FM at this time, not long after he left, so Lindsey had to take a crack at it. He's a great guitarist and melodist, but compared to Welch, a slight lyricist, at least for my taste.

The reason they had to do this song on the first tour was they only had one album in this incarnation and not enough songs to have a full concert, once they had enough material of this version of the band they weren't doing old songs anymore.

@sherriffofhongkong the R&R Hall of Fame is a sham, a shame. Moody Blues, Deep Purple, King Crimson, Rush, Yes ELP, Heart, Dire Straits, Chicago, Bad Company, T Rex, Donovan, Harry Nilsen, Peter Paul & Mary, Stevie Ray Vaughn...wtf? ! ok, I go listen to more great music. song over, rant over, I'll get over it...

Reminds me of when I got to go to my first Doobie Brothers concert, only to discover (at the concert) that they'd just swapped out Tim Johnston for Michael McDonald and completely changed the sound.

Though she isn't credited as a songwriter, Christine had a big part in creating the mystical jazzy arrangement for this song; Welch originally had it as a "fast-paced blues belter", according to this book I have in my hands. So, you know, seems legit.

@Bassman968 I think Lindsey did it justice. He's got a great voice and it just seems to work with no matter whose song it is.
