Like most art, sometimes I think it's harder to fully appreciate when not considered in the context of the era in which is was created. When this band came out and created a unique hybrid of ska, punk, rock with talented crew of virtuosos that was INSANE to see live there was little like it black, white or otherwise. They were also some of the most down not earth and approachable artists you could ever hope to meet. They were truly unique visionaries and few bands performed live with their intensity.
