This is what is wrong with Christianity today. People are turning the church into nothing more than just another Rock venue. It is not about praising God or even for His glory that they do it. It is about entertaining them, and others, and glorifying them. We live in a world where everyone wants to be entertained all the time and have an emotional experience in church, so that they can say, “Oh man the Holy Spirit was really working today”. It may have been a spirit, but I can assue=re you that it wasn’t holy. That’s not what praise and worship is. It should all be about Him, if we are going to call it praise or worship, not us. And you can’t do both at the same time. The examples given in the Bible show that people praised God on their feet and worshiped Him on their faces. If you were standing up and God appeared in front of you right now, how long would you be standing up? You know that you would be on you face in the presence of God. Well, are we coming to church to be in His presence? If so, why aren’t we more reverent?The church is God's house. The music played in His house should be melodic and soothing, not cause everyone to break out in seizures or a voodoo dance. And before you say that I don't understand, I do. I was in a Rock band for years, I was a drummer, I wrote music and lyrics (and still do), I recorded music, I loved music more than God, I even set my drums up in the church and played them there, but I was wrong, and so is everyone else who tries to justify it. Jesus said, "If I be lifted up I will draw all men unto me", not if the music be lifted up. God doesn't want a religious version of the world's music presented to Him as something holy. God is holy and He is coming back for a holy people, and until then our music should be holy.Oh yeah, I am afraid that I have more bad news. The tattoos, the piercings, popular fashion and the face paint all get the big thumbs down in God's word also. He just wants you to be the way that He made you and stop trying to get everyone else to look at you. You are special to Him just the way that you are. You don't have to modify the way that you look. Trust me; if everyone is doing it, you can be sure that is the wrong way to go, because the majority has never been on the right side of God - never."Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to DESTRUCTION, and MANY there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto LIFE, and FEW there be that find it." (Matthew 7:13 & 14 KJV)These are biblical statistics. They are sad, but true.If you are a Christian, then stop trying to get everyone to notice you and start trying to get everyone to notice Jesus instead. That will bring about a genuine experience that will make a real difference.
