Don't give up on steel just yet. I'm a folk-rock and blues guitarist since I was 12 and was just given a steel a few years ago for a birthday present. I'm not saying I'll be joining a country band, per se, but there's a lot of room for steel in the kind of music I like and as soon as I get my ass in gear and start practicing I'll be playing.

Steel Guitars will be a thing of the past very soon the Pop Rock so called "Country Trashville is putting out doesn't need a pedal steel. Little Stud Muffin punks and ditzy Blonde Bimbo's make me sick. NO PART of it is Country. Murder was committed on music row.

actually Waylon recorded "farewell party" about 10 years before Gene Watson. It just wasn't one of Waylons best sellers.

He's awesome. When I was in high school he had a short song on the radio titled "Robin". I can't find it on here, sure would be nice to hear again.

I used to go to steel guitar workshops with my wife. She never really learned to play that well but it infused into both of our souls and we have a early 80's double neck Buddy Emmons to pass down to the kids.

My pawpaw loved Lloyd green.. Pawpaw had a lloyd green model showbud steel... He could play this song and it sound just like Lloyd... I wish he was still alive to teach me to play. Lloyd is definitely one of the best steel players that has ever walked the earth...

Lloyd is my first cousin. I remember my uncle whipping his ass when he didn't practice. He was a child prodigy of sorts and one hell of a great guy.
