How anyone can give this a thumbs down is just beyond me. Buck Owens and Don Rich's harmonies always blew me away...Buck Owens and The Buckaroos were one of THE BEST bands in Country Music with the trail blazing "Bakersfield Sound".

If Buck didn't write this song until 1963, how did Red Foley and Kitty Wells record it in 1949?

With the Buckaroos he sang it in Db playing at the D position and the guitars all were retuned down a half step. It was quite normal for the band to do that. Between the initial problems of the high G# breaking on the Fender pedal steel and also the desire to get nice low notes on the lead guitar intros and solos. To tune down a half step and even a whole tone was not unusual for them..

My goodness but this is fabulous. To see and hear Buck, Don and all the Buckaroos is such a treat here. I've always loved this song and have to be careful that memories don't overpower me sometimes. They all look wonderful and I miss the great music such as this . It seems that so many musicians - especially the fellows - don't care what they look like on stage. I like an entertainer to look good as well as sound good. Thank you for posting this treasure. - Paula

Owens was devastated by the news, and for years did not talk about Rich's death. In a late 1990s interview, Owens said, "He was like a brother, a son, and a best friend. Something I never said before, maybe I couldn't, but I think my music life ended when he died. Oh yeah, I carried on and I existed, but the real joy and love, the real lightning and thunder is gone forever
