Here is a brief description of some of the unique bamboo flutes I make, and which YOU can adopt! This is a 6-hole Alto Flute in G diatonic scale, almost 3 feet long yet very easy to play. Various other keys are available.

Prices vary for each piece, depending on bamboo specimen rarity, finish, size, and playability. Basic beginner flutes can be $20 - $30 while large Bass Flutes can be $80 - $100 - $120 up to $150 for really nice ones -- all very affordable!

My other models include Bass Meditation Flutes, Raga Flutes (tuned to East Indian "Ragas" or modal scales), Panpipes, and Bamboo Birdcalls of all sorts. I also make some "regular" 6-hole diatonic flutes (Do-Re-Mi), but specialize in the extremes of bass flutes and killer piccolos, and every size in between.

P.S. I have many CDs available, and you can hear some at www.MySpace.com/dassmusic

Have fun! Hope to hear from ya!

Hey Das! My name is Sean Wiese I am sixteen years old and I play pretty much everything from pan flute to tuba, even percussion. I really enjoy the range and tone of the alto. As a hippie, I really enjoy psychedelic rock and folk music from the 60s. But, everywhere I look for advise on psychedelic chords or scales, people always tell me "looks like you need some music theory". Do you have any flutes of this caliber, or maybe just some advise on making my own? Peace, love, and music, Sean Wiese

My compliments on the great audio editing of your videos. Hard to pinpoint where the rich effects applied to the flute playing is inserted. For complete discloser you should explain the digital processing of the flutes tones.

just like I demonstrated the determination to invent all of these on my own, you can also demonstrate the same determination. let's see what YOU can create!

you really should make some instructional videos on how to make some of your more complicated flutes like the lower flutes (like this) or your exotic tunings, so that some of us budding flute makers can carry on enlightening the world with exotic flutes, after the current makers have past.

suspicious? folks have told me that my prices are half or even a third of what they should be... notwithstanding, these days my Alto Diatonics go for $100 - $120 depending on rarity of the bamboo specimen, beings that I only make museum quality heirloom pieces, no mass produced cookie cutter flutes here!!! added to the fact that no other flute maker in the world, or solar system, makes these models for your pleasure...

Wise Liar

$150?! That makes me suspicious of the quality yet thankful for your generousness. Silly me, I was going to go for a curved head joint alto just so everyone would know it's no ordinary flute. But maybe this wooden alto may be a good choice.

It is 36 inches long, and takes tall person with long arms to play it. I invented it and make them myself one at a time. I also make smaller ones in A, Bb, B or C, they are easier to play!

It's just some kind of bamboo that I pick here and there in USA. I remove the nodes by using The Force...

It's not Chinese but I invented it and make them myself in USA, one at a time. This Bass G is one octave lower than a regular Soprano G (you might call it "C" when the starting note is with 3 holes open). These are about 36 inches long and require tall person with long arms to play. I make a slightly smaller one in A which is easier to play, we can also do Bb, B or C also...
