Charted at #3 in March 1922. Great song! Introduced by Fanny Brice in the "Ziegfeld Follies of 1921". Another version by Ted Lewis and His Band charted at #2. When Barbra Streisand played Fanny Brice in "Funny Girl", she recorded her own remake of "Second Hand Rose" which charted at #32 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1966 (#5 Adult Contemporary, #14 UK).

B-side is "My Man", which was Fanny's biggest hit, charting at #1.

This photo actually was pretty standard for the time. The period from the end of WWI to the beginning of the Depression was known for being an era of very loose morality.

Hmmm... I wonder if this song is a sequel to Billy Murray's "Rose of Washington Square" (1920). It was released around the same time and both use the term 'second-hand' to describe a women named Rose. I don't know, just a thought...

Fanny Brice was a radio favorite as Baby Snooks when I was a kid and sure was a funny gal. Looking at that picture she had a pretty nice body to go with the voice.
