I would probably agree with your assessment of Nuno however I'm not completely convinced. My question is : Is it enough to separate him from most of his peers. I mean you have to consider there are a lot of players of his caliber out there and every single one of them are excellent players like him with very similar styles. I think we can both agree that the guy can play the guitar that's for sure

I understand where you are coming from, but I also think that a guitarist will be amazing once he develops his own unique style. And I think Nuno is the type of guitarist that if you play a guitar riff of his I would tell you immidietly it is Nuno Bettencourt. please ignore my english xD

Well I think he's definitely above average for sure. Way above average depends on your perspective I suppose. My perspective doesn't place him way above average simply because his style doesn't separate him too far from the others of equal ability in his genre. In my mind , to be way above average you would need to be in the class of the innovators of the genre like Hendrix , Van Halen , Clapton, Page , Beck , Vai , Satriani etc. You know ; the guitarists whom you can refer to by surname.

Above average? He is way above average . This specific album is a bit different from the typical Metal Funk you heard from them in their earlier albums, my favorite band I find them to be amazing

20+ years later and this band is still uninspiring. I am from Boston . I have been trying for sooo sooo long to like this band. They're a bunch of likeable guys. The guitar player is above average and the singer is nice . The rhythm section doesn't suck. Their music is just sooo damn uninspiring . Nice guitar playing though.

This one and and a couple of other songs from this album remind me alot of Lenny Kravitz but with a virtuosso guitarist with some of the jamming breakdowns like on Waiting For The Punchline which was a very good underrated album.

i have porno, III sides, and waiting for the punchline.. i like them all.. but during those days, III sides blew my mind.. it gave me new respect for the band.. their songs are not stupid unlike the other songs mostly played on the radio..

Ohh totally, there was way better music and arrangements on those two albums. The stuff on Porno and their first album was so cliche' 80s. dont get me wrong, i love all their stuff, but i really dug the stuff on Waiting and III Sides. Too me Porno is what killed them. After that Alt music started coming out and they got labeled a hair band because of their first two albums and that basically ended their bad ass days.
