Exciter Tribute of Judas Priest

Racing' cross the heavens

Straight into the dawn

Looking like a comet

Slicing through the morn

Scorching the horizon

Blazing to the land

Now he's here amongst us

The age of fire's at hand

Stand by for Exciter

Salvation is his task

Stand by for Exciter

Salvation bids to ask

Everything he touches

Fries into a crisp,

Let him get close to you

So you're in his trip,

First you'll smoke and smoulder

Blister up and singe

When ignition hits you

the very soul of your being will cringe.

Stand by for Exciter

Salvation is his task

Stand by for Exciter

Here he comes now

Fall to your knees and repent if you please

Who is this man?

Where is he from?

Exciter comes

For everyone.

You'll never see him

But you will taste the fire upon your tongue

He's come to make you snap out

Of the state that you are in

Looks around and make you

See the light again

So much self-indulgence

Results in shattered eyes

Predominant complacency

Leads to beguiling lies.

Stand by for Exciter

Salvation is his task

Stand by for Exciter

Salvation bids to ask

When he leaps amidst us

With combustive dance

All shall bear the branding

Of his thermal lance,

Cauterising masses

Melting into one

Only when there's order

Will his job be done.

Stand by for Exciter

Salvation is his task

Stand by for Exciter

Here he comes now

Fall to your knees and repent if you please

Who is this man?

Where is he from?

Exciter comes

For everyone

You'll never see him

But you will taste the fire upon your tongue

Racing past the heavens

Straight into the dawn

Looking like a comet

Slicing through the morn

Scorching the horizon

Blazing to the land

Now he's here amongst us

The age of fire's at hand

Tim Owens for Judas Priest is like Blaze Bayley for Iron Maiden.Less famous, but at least equally good

Not even close to Rob. This is why the only Priest albums I don't own are with Ripper at the helm. I think Ripper is great and a marquee talent and that he carried Priest through the time Rob needed to stretch his legs, however truth be told he is not even in the same universe as Rob. Abigail with Owens is awesome and he has his place in metal but he is in no way a rival of the metal god himself. Unattainable IMO.

Scheepers hit the high notes in the key and Owens didn't but both are amazing

Ofc,its recorded in parts, multiple takes, probably took more then one day to record it :P Well Rob had his live peeks in '79 ,'83 , '86 and '88 especially, after that, his live voice went downhill, then uphill and so on and on in the circle :)

I mean, don't get me wrong, the song is a masterpiece of metal in its own right (I think most of us had hoped that more music sounded like that album in general through the 90s), but it just seems like Priest (Rob in particular) out did themselves when they recorded that song.

Sure is,its the track to be left out of a live performance. :)

Painkiller seems to me like a studio only track, and always has. It just cant be matched live IMO, even when Ripper does it, the band isn't quite up to par with the original studio recording...

Painkiller is actually the only song he wins over Rob live, cus Rob fails so much on the Painkiller. Have ever hear the Painkiller live in the 90's ,sounds like Donald Duck ,goddamit :P

I know you're question is 3 years old...but Marzi is playing guitar on the solos. He's also the guitarist on the upcoming Phil Anselmo solo cd. Great Houston TX guitarist!!!

Tim Owens is awesome. His heavy vibrato with a raw voice is just freaking me out!

Painkiller is the only song where he cannot beat Rob but, that is the best and most complete heavy metal song ever! Tim is now the best metal voice.

@billybambam1111 There's Ralf Scheepers. He's like a clone of Rob Halford. And Rob ist still the best.
