This song in my mind basically is about a girl who either broke up with her boyfriend/girlfriend or lost a loved one. (Warning: about to get honest with yawl) This kind of represents me in a lot of ways. I rejected myself for a long time and now looking back on all of my nonsense I feel like an idiot and this song shows she's regretting something. And to everyone who knows me, that's basically the reason im such a downer today. Luv u Amy

I think the lyrics have a double meaning. They can either be interpreted as religious, and the song being addressed to God (which makes sense considering some of the terms such as 'grace' etc), or it can be interpreted as a love song for a person. I prefer to think of it as the latter- a lot of the lyrics sound like someone pouring their heart out to someone they love. This person possibly doesn't feel the same way, which is why the singer feels the need to say 'I'm sorry' for doing so. Or in the religious interpretation, the 'I'm sorry' would be asking for forgiveness for sins and coming back to God after doing wrong.

They are atheists so there's no reason why they would be singing for God? In my own point of view, this song speaks of one's complete surrender of oneself in Death having lived a life in pain ....ignoring the pain and she's through fighting it ...Death is where she finds hope, love and peace ... that's her escape .... ...kind of negative in a Christian's point of view ... that's how I see it.
