Enslaved is the only band that takes me back to the land my ancestors once traveled. I can feel the mist brush my check and feel myself parting the branches of firs. I can feel the deep tribal thrum echoing in the distance but I also feel sorrow for the spirit that is dying. Amazing band, very underrated.

Enslaved are one of those very rare bands that have never made a bad album and they're still going strong after 13 albums and two EPs. Most bands have 3, maybe 4 good albums in them and that's being generous.

Get them all. Riitiir is actually my least favourite Enslaved album. With that said Riitiir is still a good album. Their best song in my opinion however is "793 (Slaget Om Lindisfarne)", it's probably the first "progressive" metal I had ever heard. Absolutely gorgeous.

I would go with Axioma Ethica Odini. It was actually the first Enslaved album I bought (yes, late to the game, i know) and it absolutely blew my mind, and still does. The "wall-of-sound" heaviness and the progressive elements and vocals are done so spectacularly it seems effortless. So many layers of sound, I'm still hearing the album differently 2-3 years later. In my humble opinion, a masterpiece of heavy music.
