It actually annoys me that this gem wasn't put on an album. This song did not deserve to be a B side. It's better than many songs on the Fox and Jump Up albums. At least this song was put as a bonus track on the Too Low for Zero album.10 years ago

Having heard darn near everything Elton has ever released dozens and hundreds of times, I have to say this might be my favorite Bernie Taupin lyric. Wonderful! I actually bought the 45 of "Princess" when it came out in 1980, and loved this song.11 years ago

Bernies words Eltons music is a leathal weapon no one can match.
