In Elizabeth Rosenthal's biography "His Song: The Musical Journey of Elton John", it is revealed that this song was inspired by "Sun King" from The Beatles Abbey Road album. Elton said: "I thought it would be great to write a song with English words that didn't mean a thing, but that sounded fantastic when put together..."

This song just popped into my head, so I look it up. Now I'm listening to it, and remember every useless word of it from my childhood! Brilliant!

I always wondered what lingo this was untill my mate told me its gobel de gook no real language at all, well that would explain it.

Only just discovering the more obscure music on the Caribou album and I like it. (That awful cover always put me right off, to be honest.) This track sounds very much like something Procol Harum might have knocked out for a laugh circa Grand Hotel. Still good though!

When I was a really little kid, and heard this song, I tried so hard to understand it. I didn't know the words were unintelligible. I just thought it was another language. I thought the song was about loving the sun, and it was important to love the sun, in any language.

This song was very weird to say the least, but there is just something about it that makes you like it

I was shocked as well by one of his songs. My mom and I bought the "Captain Fantastic" album right when it was released (I was 15). Her brother was visiting at the time, and though not a prude, he was very intellectual. So mom asks him if he liked Elton John, and he said "sure I like him." So on goes the record. It plays through all the songs until it gets to "Someone Saved..." with the passage "it's 4 o'clock in the morning damn it" and I was shocked. "Did they hear that?" I asked myself...LOL.

Songwriting excellence! (tongue in cheek) I think I remember Elton mentioning somewhere that Bernie wrote this while perusing the dictionary. Probably the easiest way to write a song, considering Elton could write a tune for something as weird and bizarre as this one. I remember getting this album for my birthday in 1974, seeing this title and trying to make sense of it.

Elton could put a catchy tune to a cooking recipe. and Bernie could make it rhyme. They were the best duo ever.

Oh jeeze! I always thought this was Italian or French! I knew a beautiful girl in HS who LOVED Elton John. She did a lip-sync for our HS drama class and sold it. One day I hope to see her -- for a moment to tell her that her love was just.
