Elton would have been good regardless. But Bernie made him great.

God, Elton John has so many good songs! This for me is my all time fave. Just killer lyrics, the strings!!! Everything is perfect about this song. After 44 years it's still tough and relevant. No one questions Lennon-McCartney and Jagger-Richards as a songwriting team. I'm not sure Elton John-Bernie Taupin get enough credit for their partnership. So many diverse and timeless songs. This one's proof.
