Some "Elton" That's Hardly Heard Anymore, If At All.

It used to be common practice in popular (and classical) music to give the listener a reprise of what they just listened to (i.e. a brief sampling). Look up reprise on Wikipedia.

The song "Empty Sky" also fades out and then back in, and then back out.

I had that same question. There's no obvious delineation between the two. I hear a lot of fading in and fading out. Confusing.

Ok, someone please explain to me what's going on at the end of the song as we fade in and out, in and out, in and out?

Genius. You know, they sure don't make music (like this) anymore. But I could live in a world where music like this was produced each and every single day and die a happy camper. Thank you for posting this classic.

I also think the "Hay Chewed" segment, besides being merely a pun on "Hey Jude," is a continuation of the "Gulliver" chorus, only in jazz-bebop fashion.

@hooeybrown Thank you.

@ClassicTVMan1981X I think "Hay Chewed" begins at 3:09 and the "Reprise" begins at 4:42

@ashleyh81 Maybe it was because the songs on it weren't strong enough.

Is anyone able to break down when "Gulliver" transitions into "Hay-Chewed" and when "Hay-Chewed" transitions into "Reprise"?

@forloveoffilm I totally agree - and think Empty Sky was his best work (gotta luv that jazz section, too, plus harpsicord for Skyline Pigeon). One of my top favorite albums!
