Most artists cannot re-record anything 30 years later. They just don't have the chops. I like the clarity of the newer version, as I can hear each individual instrument doing its thing. I still love the original too. Now we can listen to both styles. Don't bitch about it, be grateful there is more of Jeff's music to enjoy.

I love Jeff Lynne and ELO. But say what you will, Mr. Blue sky 1978 is hands down the winner. I don't care so much about the "clarity" as i do the emotion. And it was more authentic, WARMER and just plain sweeter. These days doesn't do any music justice.
