the trumpet is haunting, like a devil's laughter. I used this song playing on an old gramophone during a murder scene in one of my novels. So grotesque! Love it!

I love the 'lonely foghorns' effect (as William S. Burroughs described it), of the horns in this Duke Ellington composition.

AH this is the good version with bubber miley on the trumpet, you can tell from the way he makes it growl

This is the best version of this tune. The slower tempo works so well. Used to have a scrathcy old copy of this on vinyl, an outdoor party morning time classic. Unfortunately I no longer have it in my collection. It's gawn a wanderin'.

When I go to iTunes to buy this, it is not the same version. I like it, but it's not what I thought I was getting.

Do you know if this is Duke Ellington and His Orchestra, or is it Duke Ellington and His Famous Orchestra? I need to listen for History of Jazz so was just wondering? But Thanks so much for the recording! cheers
