Duke said himself that this song was meant to have a singer. With that being said, I would have loved it if more artists offered their own interpretations. I'll definitely check Dolphy out though. It should be wild!

Ever hear Eric Dolphy and bassist Richard Davis play this classic? I don't know why more Jazz 1960's avant garde jazz musicians if the Blue Note mold didn't play this. It's such a beauty. Can you imagine if the bevy of musicians that recorded Monk's "Round Midnight" hadn't.taken it on. Although, sadly 99% of them just play off of Miles Davis' conception of that Monk song.
