This is a song by one of my all-time favorite bands: Dragonland. It's a song called "Cassiopeia", from their 4th album "Astronomy", which will always hold a special place in my CD collection.
Speaking about recording, i've have done stuff a little differently this time.
First of all, I've recorded acoustic guitars at home, for the first time ever. They were just miced up with a condenser mic (Same one as I used in the Feared video), and thrown directly into my audio interface.
Second of all, if you've watched a bit of the video, you have probably already guessed, that i've recorded more than one guitar track for this song. Even at places where i only show 1 guitar at the time. (Too much editing work for my slow computer)
For the acoustic intro I've recorded 3 guitars: 1 left, 1 right and 1 in the middle.
For the distorted guitars in the rest of the song, I've recorded 2 guitars: 1 left and 1 right.
I did this because the song wouldn't sound right if I didn't record all of them.
Take a listen to the original recording, and you'll realise, how much of my recorded tracks you are actually hearing.
Signal chain for distorted guitars:
