They are passive, stock. If you can solder, it's quite easy to install any pickup.

I am a great fan of Ibanez. By owning four Ibanez', 3 RG and 1 S model I can tell you what it feels like. My oldest RG 760 has the Original Wizard which is almost paper thin. It's the thinnest neck I've played on, but yet it feel very stable. My Premium and Prestige feels pretty much the same. Wide, and thin and great playing comfort. It's like playing on butter, like the neck does the walking and not the fingers. But hey man, try them out at a store :-) Not everybody likes the feel of an Ibanez
