@SUPERBARRACUDA17 err...jog on yeah? The clash version is good, dont get me wrong, but this is how Junco Partner should sound, with a new orleans feel. Most people know that 90% of the time the origonal versions of a song are the best. This may not be the origonal version, but its closes that the clashes version. Dr John is a god of the piano, and this version is better than the clash - end of (thumbs up if you agree)

@olhuzzy Well, you really don't need to 'try' to get people interested in New Orleans music :)) I am absolutely sure there are huge numbers of people who love New Orleans music, it's just a shame there isn't enough of it 'out there'. Give me FESS, DR. JOHN, JAMES BOOKER, EARL KING, ALLEN TOUSSAIN, FATS DOMINO, JON CLEARY, THE NEVILLE BROTHERS, THE METERS over the 'pop idol' junk of today any day of the week!

Listen to the fairly unpopular "The man and the donkey" by Chuck Berry to find a pretty close resemblance of this theme. Even some of the lyrics ('Down the road..') are there. My favorite version is Booker's - especially the beautiful bassline work. Hard to play, but mere fun.

when he talks about pawning stuff, kinda vaguely reminds me of Roberta, the flip side of Sea Cruise...and the rythym of that track is played by the good Dr in his "Pinetop Boogie" on that instructional homespun DvD

huge fan of both Mac and Booker, but strictly speaking this wasnt Bookers song (in that he didnt write it) - its an old New Orleans standard, Booker kinda made it his own, though... this clip is great, but then i've yet to see a Dr John appearance that wasnt... top man...
