Mark Noack was the only person to comment on the background singers who added much to make this song great. I understand they were The Blossoms and they received virtually no recognition. How sad. Same is true with the musicians - no idea who they were other than studio musicians and singers who remained obscure. Mission Bells was one of my favorite songs which I thought was in the late 50s. Thank you Donnie, Blossoms, and musicians who made Mission Bell a memorable song.

Donne was my wife's and my favorite singer in the 60s. Had the opportunity to have an hour face time with him in the 90's at a rock and roll festival in Ventura CA. What a great experience that was. He was a real nice guy. Miss him.

This was one of my favorite songs back in the early 1960's when it was played on AM radio when I was young boy; dang I'm now in my upper 50's and hate it when life is getting short.

On this day in 1965 {February 20th, 1965} Donnie Brook performed "Mission Bell" on the syndicated TV program 'Hollywood A Go-Go'... Five years earlier on June 13th, 1960 it entered Billboard's Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #7 and spent 20 weeks on the Top 100... Donnie Brooks, aka John Dee Abohosh, passed away on February 23rd, 2007 at the age of 71 {heart attack}... May he R.I.P.

PLEASE add "White Orchard" One of his best. I think the back up singers on Mission Bells are a studio group also used on Bobby Vee's "Rubber Ball along with several others.

Lovely little tune. Love the background choir and the melody. There is no music like that today.

Excellent sound quality on this.. not sure if they were using the "wall of sound " effect of the era.. but sounds like it... great track..

Interesting clip. Donnie Brooks had this hit in 1960, and it looks like he did this appearance around 1965 or so, in the middle of the British Invasion. Very fascinating!

Do I remember this wonderful song. I was just a young boy and it was one of my favorites. Thanks so much for posting it.
