Back in the mid 60s I owned a nightclub in Lancaster CA called Mr D's. We had live bands 5 days a week and guest artist's on weekends. I booked Donnie through an agency in L.A. and got the surprise of my life. Not only was he a great singer but a hell of a great entertainer. He put on a show that had the audience in stitches. I think we had him back three or four times

Great memories from the summer of 1960 and a pretty girl named Susan Mehringer. I never wanted that summer to end.

GREAT!!! but I often wonder why those who like you do the postings whom I owe a heartfelt thanks for sure!!!, but why aren't the authors, dates of release etc. more often included in the info? Sorry I couldn't have thought of all this in one comment instead of three I guess memory does not improve with age

I bought this record as a teenager, but the label is ERA. The length, however is the same. I have not played it since the 60's, but the song sounds the same. The lyrics seem unremarkable now, like "I love you." But I put it in the class of songs that not only had to be written, but also have to be played from time to time, like an obvious axiom of inevitably. RexO

How can I be falling in love all over again with a ghost? :(

I agree . And you just don't hear such beautiful lyrics anymore . I love this song so sweet and innocent , Like the little girl that loves me so much . She is 23 but I adopted her when she was 10 . Daddy worships the ground she walks on .

On this day in 1965 {February 20th, 1965} Donnie Brook performed "Mission Bell" on the syndicated TV program 'Hollywood A Go-Go'... Five years earlier on June 13th, 1960 it entered Billboard's Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #7 and spent 20 weeks on the Top 100... Donnie Brooks, aka John Dee Abohosh, passed away on February 23rd, 2007 at the age of 71 {heart attack}... May he R.I.P.
