What a great recording. So clean, pure and not over produced like a Ray Price album I had the misfortune to sit through recently that had him accompanied what seemed to be Ray Conniff, The Boston Pops and Leroy Anderson! Don Gibson was not only a songwriter extrordinaire, but a brilliant interpreter of songs. As for Ray Price, whoever told him he was Nashville's answer to Tony Bennett needs a good kicking!!

This was not a hit for Don Gibson but for some reason this is one of my favorite cuts Don did in his career. Thanks for commenting! :)

@MisterHuskey Bob Wills wrote Faded Love. You are probably thinking about Sweet Dreams written by Don Gibson and made popular by Patsy Cline. Besides that I agree with your post.

@MisterHuskey Hi, thanks so much for jogging my memory. I now know why I don't know this man's voice, I know all the songs you mentioned but by other artists. I didn't hear any country songs for a long time and unfortunetly, missed some great music. Thank you Mr.Husky. PS, you any kin to Verlon?)))

@delora33 Oh I'm sure you have at least heard some of the songs he has written. Two that quickly come to mind are "I Can't Stop Loving You" made popular by Ray Charles and "Faded Love" which was a hit for Patsy Cline. I just noticed Don as a solo artist charted 70 songs over his own singing career. "Oh Lonesome Me" - "Blue, Blue Day" - "Sea of Heartbreak" - the list goes on and on! :)
