He wrote two fantastic and famous songs on the same afternoon, in 1957, while living in a trailer park. Those would be...Oh Lonesome Me...and I Can't Stop Loving You. That is some achievement.

Don Gibson could punch up a sad song with his special style and make you tap your feet. He does the same thing with "It's All Over" and makes you feel good about being sad [ "It's All Over" was originally written to be very slow and sad].

@GreenGreenGrasOfHome if you dig the negative approach..'Blue Blue day" is just loaded with negative thoughts & lyrics. It's too bad, cause these songs have a terrific beat, particulary Sea of Heartache. My living conditions aren't great, their are times i could cry when I think of myself without a friend in the world, someone i can lean on....dose it help me out to listen to Don sing about a tragic experience he's going thru. Right now all i got to turn to is my laptop, my pride & joy...

Yeah, it's a hard decision, because he has made that great recordings. "Sea of Heartbreak" is really a fantastic song.

I don't kow which I like better, sea of heartbreak, oh lonesome me or this here one. If i have to go by the beat, i's have to say Sea of Heartbreak, for the beat alone. Positvie lyrics like "It's been a Sunny Day, my love is coming today", you know..and there have been alot of songs that don't exactly think positively & thave hit the Top 5 for sure, Roy Orbison is a good example. Thx4 posting
