There was not as much interference in the studio with music and to go with that the reproduction from valves was warmer...not as perfect  as came later with solid state devices...which showed up the often appalling voices and instrumentation of later artists.

That really is a very appealing version. The backing voices are fuller, there's more reverb on Don's voice than in his original recording and the mandolin suits it. The acoustic guitar has flourishes that aren't on the original too. I like the original possibly a touch better because it's so clean but I'd be happy to play this anytime.
