I never thought about his version having a sort of reggae feel, but it does. I wonder if that's what John was consciously attempting? I love the original, just as John did. Booby Freeman remade it in 1970 as a funk jam! The Beach Boys "spectorized" it in 1965, and the Mamas & Papas turned it into a slow ballad in 1966. I put all 5 in my Beach Boys covers and covering playlist. Thansk al ot for the upload.
